Tony hails from Calgary, Alberta, and did his undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta in Edmonton in Chemistry with honours. His undergraduate thesis was with Prof. Michaelis in the investigation of structure and bioactivity of calcium and strontium borophosphate glasses. He is now a M Sc. candidate working under Prof. Moores in finding novel and robust scaffolding materials that can periodically space out nanoparticles to boost their SPR activity for use in photocatalysis. In his spare time, Tony climbs walls and listens to underground hip hop music.
