Daniela Olivan

PhD Student

Daniela completed her Bachelor in Biotechnology Engineering at Tecnológico de Monterrey in June 2024. She spent one year working with Prof. Pabel Aviles and Prof. Mariana Franco on the optimization of the production of enzymes in solid-state fermentation.

She started in the Moores lab as an undergraduate research trainee in the Fall 2023, during which she started to explore the recrystallization of chitin. She re-joined in Winter 2025 as a PhD student, to follow up on her previous work and start working on the synthesis of chitin nanocrystals and their further application in drug delivery systems. In her spare time, Daniela loves to dance and going to concerts and movies
