Congrats Dr. Galen! —

A huge congratulations to Dr. Galen Yang on a great defence and fantastic work! Galen presented his thesis titled “Unlocking the potential of polysaccharides with mechanochemistry and aging modification” in which he explored efficient and versatile transformations of chitin and cellulose using innovative sustainable approaches.

Now that he has completed his Ph.D., Galen is starting as a Mitas-funded post doctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia with Prof. Laurel Schafer and Prof. Orlando Rojas in the Chemistry and Chemical & Biological Engineering departments. He is working on developing novel bio-based composite materials in collaboration with lululemon.
