Yuto Kaku

Yuto is a postdoctoral researcher working on the use of mechanochemistry and aging to control the structures of chitin and chitosan. He also continues to work on the development of chitin-based nanomaterials. Yuto received his Ph.D. in 2024 from the University of Tokyo, where he developed nanochitin-based composite materials, hydrogels, and transparent porous materials. He then spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), where he studied the biodegradability of chitin, before joining the group.

Outside the lab, Yuto enjoys playing tennis and travelling.
